A New Approach to Corporate Gifting

Apr 26th, 2019

"With our heritage of creating quality leather luggage inspired by the golden age of motorsport comes a wealth of experience. We have created pieces to the most exacting standards for some of the best automotive brands in the world, creating bespoke luggage solutions for supercars such as the Aston Martin Vulcan and McLaren P1. And with this knowledge comes opportunity."

Richard Wheat, Managing Director, Caracalla 1947

It was a chance remark from Kate Beavan, the Director of hospitality and experiences at Formula 1, that made us aware that the world of corporate gifting is quite polarised. On one hand you have the branded plastic pen, single-use umbrella and naff baseball cap that are merely fodder for the office drawer and, let’s face it, landfill. Or you have the expensive, inflexible and, dare we say, precious approach of the famous luxury houses where you should be grateful if they will emboss your name on the product (in their fonts and colours, naturally). By turning our expertise to this woefully under-serviced arena, we are now offering a bespoke gifting service of our leather luggage and accessories. From our atelier in Sesto Fiorentina, in the heart of Tuscany, we can make pieces that reflect your values and enhance any brand’s image. Be it a portfolio for a client of a private bank, or a utility bag for a track day, we can make something that will be appreciated and cherished. Your colleagues, customers and friends will become ambassadors of your brand every time they use your gift. And trust us, they will use them again. Your company will be allocated a dedicated account team who will advise on a unique, creative solution.

Our teams are expert at working within and interpreting corporate guidelines and we pride ourselves on capturing the essence of your brand in terms of language and aspiration. Logos and colours are only used with respect and good taste, Pantone references can be realised across a wide range of materials and textures. Caracalla offer a choice of branding from embroidery to blind embossing. When gold or silver foil is required, we call upon our friend and neighbour in Florence who also happens to service the gold leaf in the Sistine chapel.

Our Creative Director, Christopher Modoo, has a wealth of luxury experience. With over two decades working in London’s Savile Row, he is an expert in textiles. This affords us the opportunity to use any textile in the design of your collection be that as a lining, trim or the outer shell cloth. Your estate tweed can be fused to a host of other materials and made into the perfect weekend holdall or the silk from your club tie can be bonded into a lining of a wallet. Don’t have a tweed or silk tie? We can commission one exclusively for you from our extensive network of the best textile mills. For larger orders (or brands with larger budgets) the hardware (zips and zip-pulls) can also be bespoken in a choice of finish and colours.

Of course, all these decisions can be daunting and we appreciate they often need to be presented to decision maker, for approval at board meetings. To support and enhance this process our artistic director, David Galbraith is on hand to help. He is a successful designer and fine art illustrator and has worked with a number of luxury brands including Asprey, Garrard and Harrods. All Caracalla projects begin with a watercolour illustration, which helps our clients to clearly visualise how their products will look before technical designs are implemented.

Our recent collaboration with the Royal Automobile Club allowed us the opportunity to successfully implement their exclusive house tweed into a three-piece luggage collection efficiently and elegantly.

And, of course, as the inspiration of our new direction, it would be remiss not to divulge the service we provided to Formula 1. The most exciting global motorsport competition has a just reputation for fulfilling the expectations of the some most demanding customers. Always looking to improve and enhance the customer experience, Caracalla created a sustainable solution for presenting their three-day paddock passes. Using the finest French calf leather and combining with a robust Italian pure cotton, we fashioned a pouch that is both refined yet practical. The zip-pull was replaced with a bespoke metal-branded version with the Formula 1 logo. The blind-embossing of the black calf leather is clean, visible but discreet. The product reflects the values of Formula 1 and the aspirations of Caracalla to become the best at luxury corporate gifting.

We look forward to being of service to you.
